Honeybees-by-the-Sea Birds

Honeybees-by-the-Sea is a micro apiary, or honeybee garden, on the Crystal  Coast of North Carolina, with an Organic Terra Preta Vegetable garden.

Around our passive solar home we have designed and planted herbaceous borders that employ the principles of Perma-culture: multi-purpose plantings that function as a windbreak and privacy fence with edible fruits, honeybee forage area and a bird habitat.

In April 2010, a pair of Painted Buntings began nesting in our herbaceous border, delighting us each day as they came to eat.  Here are a few photos of Mr. and Mrs. Painted Bunting.
